Paul Wood CSyP FSyI
Occupation:
Director at Emerging Risks Global
Security, Board Director and Other Relevant Experience:
In addition to extensive experience of leading security services in
public and private sectors and of considering the complexities of
organisations when helping them to respond to crises and to increase
their levels of resilience, Paul has helped to improve the operational
standards and the security culture in a number of settings.
Paul has also acted as a strategic advisor to a number of boards and has performed the role of
director and trustee for a UK charity, demonstrating positive contributions to board discussions
regarding strategic developments, activities to ensure financial integrity and confirming that
organisations remain a going concern.
Date of Joining the Institute: 2018
Previous Security Institute Involvement:
Paul has spoken about the advantages of being a member of the Institute to a wide range of
students considering careers in the private security industry. In addition, he has spoken about
the development of our industry as a profession to a wide range of stakeholders, particularly
given the increasingly important role that private security professionals are playing in the
wider national security infrastructure and the subsequent efforts to increase and improve both
resilience and security
Areas of Interest in the Institute:
Paul’s personal areas of professional and academic interest are in the areas of Insider Risk and
education, both of which influence the development of a positive security culture. In addition to
being a RSES, CPNI accredited Principal of Insider Threat, he is actively developing the area of
Crisis Resilience through research, writing and the creation of a shared interest group, the Crisis
Resilience Professionals Guild. Paul would like to introduce this topic to the Institute membership
in the future.
Personal Comment:
I am incredibly excited by the opportunity to play a leading role in contributing to the ongoing
development of our Institute, as we continue to lead the way in improving standards within our
industry and in making the case for us to be viewed as a profession.
