Ms Susan Jones, Master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP), announced the continuation of the Administration agreement on behalf of the Chartered Security Professionals Register (CSPRA) with the Security Institute (Syl) for a further 5 years at the official signing of their agreement. She was pleased that this partnership, established in May 2011, would continue to flourish in partnership and promote the Gold Standard in security management.

Over the course of that period, the Register has gone from strength to strength, with over 310 security professionals gaining Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) status. CSyPs have been instrumental in the raising of standards across the breadth of the industry, influencing positive change and a safer, more secure society in the United Kingdom and beyond.

The 17th of July saw the Interim CEO of The Security Institute, Sarah Austerberry MLitt CSyP FSyI, the Chair of The Security Institute, Julie Nel MA CSyP FSyI, the Registrar of the Register of Chartered Security Professionals, Mike Bluestone MA CSyP FSyI and the Master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, Susan Jones.

SyI Chair Julie Nel had this to say: “I am pleased to further enhance our collaboration with the Register and the WCoSP. Chartered Security Professional status is held by members of the Security Institute’s Board of Directors (with the exception of our General Counsel), reflecting our dedication to raising standards across the security profession. Advancing Chartership through this partnership with the WCoSP represents an important milestone towards our strategic goal of professionalising the security sector.”

SyI CEO Sarah Austerberry continued: “As both a Chartered Security Professional and Fellow of The Security Institute, I am delighted to continue our fruitful partnership with the Register and WCoSP. At The Security Institute, we are committed to supporting the development of our membership and achieving CSyP status remains an aspirational goal for so many current and future security professionals, we are proud to be at the forefront of supporting all security professionals at every stage of their careers.”

Registrar of the Register of Chartered Security Professionals, Mike Bluestone, said: “Like Sarah, I am a longstanding member of the Institute as well as being one of the first cohort of CSyPs, so for me, this partnership has been more than just a working relationship, it’s been a passion project that speaks to our shared goals as organisations.

“As such, I’m especially pleased that we are set to continue working together for another half-decade; there is still so much that we can achieve, and much work to do.”

Finally, Susan Jones, Master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, commented: “As Master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals I was honoured and delighted to sign the Contract which will ensure the commitment between the Security Institute and the Company to administer the Register of the Chartered Security Professionals for the next 5 years.  I thank and commend all those involved in writing the Contract.

“As I said during my Installation Lunch in June, throughout my year as Master I would like to extend knowledge of the Chartered Security Professional scheme within the Security Sector, especially to the Civil Service and Military.   Achieving this qualification demonstrates a high level of competence and is a verification of skills.  It also shows a commitment to uphold the highest standard in security practice.

“I wish all those who are doing, or about to start, their CSyP journey the very best of luck and congratulate those who have already achieved the qualification.”
