SUMMARY:FLOSIG - From first role to CSO: Navigating a successful security career
DESCRIPTION:Date: Friday 7th August 2026 \nTime: 12:00 – 13:00 \nVenue: Online \nAbout the event: \nThe security profession is increasingly called on to address complex\, integrated\, and high-consequence risks to people\, facilities\, operations\, information\, profitability\, and organizational brand. The demands can quickly overwhelm the knowledge and experience of the security professional\, and individuals often face these challenges with little to no structure and support as they transition from foundational careers before advancing in the sector. Absent clearly defined knowledge and experience transferal\, application\, and production mechanisms\, individuals must find their own pathway; often through a process of trial and error. To be truly effective\, security professionals need to draw – and then build on – a combination of knowledge and experience spanning both primary and current careers. Increasingly\, the security sector comprises hybrid communities with multiple specialist subcultures\, forcing professionals to become multidimensional experts with transdisciplinary competence. Leaders also need to understand how to foster expeditious and focused growth within both their own team\, as well as the next generation(s) of security professional. \nSpeaker: \nDr. Mike Blyth has a Prof Doc in organizational resilience\, a MSc in security\, and is studying a PhD in security. He is twice published by Wiley and Sons and writes for magazines and journals. Mike was the founder/CEO of RSM Corp and was (until recently) the Sigma7 Chief Resilience Officer and Chief Revenue Officer. A retired Royal Marines Commando Major\, he has firsthand experience in 45+ countries advising government and commercial organizations. \n  \n** Open to SyI Members and Non-Members **
