SUMMARY:The Security Institute Annual Conference 2026
DESCRIPTION:📍 Venue: The Minster Building\, 21 Mincing Lane\, London\, EC3R 7AG \n📅 Date: Thursday 15th October 2026 \n⏰Time: 9:30am – 5:30pm \n  \nRegistration opens: 8:30am \nConference: 9:30am – 5:30pm \nNetworking: 5:30pm – 7:30pm \n  \nAnnual Conference 2026 – Influential Security: Less Noise. More Influence. \nThe Security Institute Annual Conference 2026 will bring together security professionals from across the sector for a full day of insight\, discussion and connection. \nIn a world of constant alerts\, competing priorities and growing complexity\, effective security leadership is no longer about adding more controls\, reports or terminology. It is about clarity\, credibility and the ability to influence decisions where they matter most. \nThis conference brings together leaders and practitioners to cut through the noise — sharing insight\, experience and practical approaches that help security professionals shape strategy\, build trust and deliver meaningful impact in their organisations. \nDesigned for those working at strategic\, operational and leadership levels\, the conference will explore the key challenges\, opportunities and emerging trends shaping the future of the security profession. Through a combination of expert-led presentations\, panel discussions\, interactive breakout sessions and audience engagement\, delegates will gain practical insight alongside broader strategic perspectives. \nThe programme will feature a diverse range of speakers drawn from across the security landscape\, sharing real-world experience\, thought leadership and forward-looking ideas. Topics will reflect the evolving nature of risk\, governance\, leadership and professional practice\, ensuring content that is both relevant and impactful. \nThe full Annual Conference agenda will be revealed soon. \n  \nSession Announcements:\nTeresa Quinn\, Head of Global Security at TUI Group is joining us to deliver “Leading Security from the Outside In: Credibility\, Influence & Culture”. \nDrawing on her experience at TUI Group and a 25+ year careers across travel\, professional services and education\, Teresa will share how trusted relationships\, accessible security and greater ownership of risk  can embed security into wider business decision-making. \nJulia Pendry MVO\, CSyP will explore how security professionals can influence commercial leaders and get recommendations heard\, funded and acted on\, even without formal authority in “Steal my Idea – The Art of Making People Think It Was Theirs” \nDrawing on 30 years in policing and national event security\, followed by 13 years in the commercial world\, Julia will share a practical three-part approach to influencing decision-makers while balancing security risk with commercial priorities\, customer experience and cost. \nInfluential Security: Clear\, Credible\, Consequential. A fireside chat with Dr Rachel Webb DSyRM CSyP FSyI and Government Chief Security Officer\, Vincent Devine.  \nIn this fireside chat\, a Government Chief Security Officer explores what it takes for security leaders to be heard\, trusted and influential at the highest levels. Drawing on senior government experience\, the conversation will examine how clarity\, credibility and sound judgement can turn security expertise into meaningful influence and better decision-making. \nSquaddie Box & Blue Light Box – Supporting Those Who Serve \nSquaddie Box will introduce its work supporting veterans and members of the uniformed services\, alongside the developing Blue Light Box concept. The session will explore how secure access to a registered postal address can support people experiencing homelessness\, housing instability or significant changes in personal circumstances\, helping them remain connected with essential services while protecting their privacy and personal security. \n  \nThe session will also consider the particular challenges faced by serving and former emergency-service personnel and the opportunities for collaboration between policing\, the wider security community and the voluntary/not-for-profit sector. \nNew for 2026: Interactive Breakout Sessions \nAs part of this year’s programme\, we are introducing three interactive breakout sessions\, giving delegates an opportunity to explore the conference theme of Influential Security from different perspectives and take a more active role in the conversation. \nDelegates will have the opportunity to take part in one of three sessions: \nIntelligence: Effective Use of Intelligence to Shape and Influence Decision Makers \nHosted by Joey Hills\, Director of Intelligence & Operations\, Mitie Security \nHow can security intelligence move beyond informing decision-makers to actively shaping better decisions? \nThis interactive whole-group session will explore a number of structured analytical techniques and consider how they can be used to understand how best to use intelligence to influence and shape decision-making. \nJoey Hills is Director of Intelligence & Operations at Mitie Security. With 19 years of experience across intelligence disciplines in both the public and private sectors\, he has built intelligence capabilities across five continents for multinational clients. Joey is an advocate for intelligence-led decision-making\, crisis preparedness\, security innovation and thought leadership. \nFrontline: Influence Starts on the Frontline \nHosted by Chris Middleton\, Director\, The Security Institute and Darcy Fletcher \nInfluence isn’t reserved for senior leaders. Every frontline security professional shapes how security is experienced by clients\, colleagues and the public. \nHosted by Security Institute Director Chris Middleton and Darcy Fletcher\, this interactive workshop will explore how frontline officers influence confidence\, professionalism and service quality\, while considering what prevents them from having an even greater impact. \nThe session will bring the frontline into the wider conversation around influential security and recognise the important role professionals at every level can play in shaping perceptions\, standards and outcomes. \nEarly Careers Network: The Influence Map Tabletop \nHosted by Raegan Moss MSc MSyI\, Senior Security Controller. \nWhat do you do when you know a security control matters\, but you don’t hold the budget\, don’t have the authority and don’t have a direct line to the person making the decision? \nThe Influence Map Tabletop will place delegates into a fictional but realistic scenario involving an early-career security professional whose organisation is deprioritising a control they believe is critical. \nWorking together\, delegates will consider who this individual should approach\, in what sequence and what evidence they need to build influence. Senior professionals will contribute insight into how decisions are made in practice\, while early-career professionals will explore influence as a craft. Each table will conclude by presenting one tactic to the wider group. \nHosted by Raegan Moss MSc MSyI\, Senior Security Controller\, the session reflects a wider focus on influence through reciprocity — building a culture where senior\, mid-career and early-career security professionals actively open doors for one another rather than networking in silos. \nAlongside the formal programme\, delegates will also have valuable opportunities throughout the day to network with peers\, industry leaders and fellow Security Institute members\, encouraging the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of professional relationships. \nKeep an eye out as we reveal more of the Annual Conference 2026 programme in the coming weeks. \nSecure your place now and select the breakout session you would most like to attend when booking. \n  \nBook now to secure your spot! \nWith thanks to our sponsors: \n \n                  \n  \n**Please contact events@security-institute.org if you are interested in sponsoring the Institute’s Annual Conference.**
