Diploma in Security Management
The Security Institute Diploma in Security Management leads to full ‘Membership' of the Security Institute and is the most senior qualification offered by the Institute resulting in an Edexcel accredited BTEC Level 5 Professional Award in Security Management. The Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at Portsmouth University recognise the Diploma, and awards 80 credits towards its BSc (Hons) Risk and Security Management. Further credits may also be available for experiential learning.
The Diploma offers the security professional the opportunity to enhance their skills and improve their career progression. It is delivered on behalf of the Security Institute by Perpetuity Training.
On commencement of the course, students may apply for Student Membership of the Institute. On successful completion of the course, students can apply for full membership of the Institute, which is guaranteed at a minimum of Member level (subject to the normal probity checks) and provides access to the full range of Institute member benefits.
WHO WILL BENEFIT
The course will benefit anyone seeking professional recognition and qualification within the security sector at middle and senior management levels. The course is open to all those who operate within the private and public security sectors, with a minimum of 5 years experience. People who have previously taken the qualification include holders of the Institute Certificate in Security Management, security managers, H & S managers, FM managers, senior police officers, fire service personnel and experienced members of the armed services.
MODULES
The course is delivered and assessed entirely by distance learning through our partners Perpetuity Training and consists of 5 mandatory modules. Full details are available in the "Diploma Modules Breakdown" document accessible from the download section on the right hand side of this page.
STUDY
The course should take 12 months to complete. Assessment is by coursework that is marked and returned as the course progresses. Successful completion of all 5 modules is needed to qualify for the Diploma in Security Management.
Whilst you are working towards your qualification you will have contact with experienced tutors (members of the Institute and holders of Masters Degrees in Security). Our course administrators are also available to deal with any admin related issues.
The Distance Learning Programme is supported by a local in-country specialist in Kenya and Tanzania.

The Diploma costs £1630 +VAT per person.
