Speaker Topic: The Utility of Force

Until 1989 there was a general agreement on the nature of the threat and the West's response. Today the threat is ill defined and poorly understood. Wars of choice have been politically disaterous. Armed forces are very expensive. Does the use of forces bring us security any more?

 Speaker Bio:

General Sir Jack Deverell left the Army in March 2004.  An Infantryman, he has spent much of his career involved in operations and training.  In his final appointment (Commander in Chief Allied Forces North) he was responsible for the accession and integration of new NATO nations and the operational direction of the NATO I SAF in Afghanistan.  He is Chairman, typist and teaboy of JFD Solutions Ltd.

About the Event:

The Remembrance Lecture is a key event in the Security Institute calendar, when we pause to think about the efforts made on our behalf by the military, and raise money to support specially selected good causes.

The ticket price includes an excellent speaker and presentation from our chosen charity, supper, wine and soft drinks. There will also be a charity raffle, and you may donate prizes for this on the night.

Profit from this event will be split between Veterans Aid and PTSD  Resolution
