Please find attached the formal invitation and booking form for the next Security Institute members' evening in London on Wednesday 10th February.
We are pleased to welcome two speakers - Bill Muskin, award-winner Chairman and the original founder of VSG & Chairman of the Manned Guarding Sector for the BSIA, and Andrew Shepherd, Assistant Director of the Security Industry Authority Approved Contract Scheme.
You may have already read in the press that the BSIA, supported by NSI and Skills for Security, are concerned about the lack of differentiation between the 650 successful companies already belonging to the Approved Contractor Scheme, and have therefore established a Working Group to consider establishing an operating standard to recognise the differentiation in quality within the security guarding industry. Security Institute Chairman, Mike Bluestone, fully supports this approach, and urges you to attend the meeting and participate in the discussion.
Bill says "It is important to understand why we are conducting this exercise when you may be in the camp that argues as an industry we are already adequately covered by legislation, regulation and standards and this is just yet another process that will confuse procurement teams and end users." Please see the BSIA Consultation Document for more information.
The Institute have invited the SIA to also speak at this meeting, and it will be good to welcome Andrew Shepherd and hear how the ACS Scheme responds to additional standards and other differentiators.
This event is sponsored by Counter Terror Expo, and the usual attendance fee of £20 per head is due on booking. This will include supper. Members and non-members are welcome - please pass this invitation on to interested parties.
