CCTV Guide
CCTV is one of the most important developments the security industry has seen for a long time. The Government has invested heavily in public space CCTV with security managers having incorporated CCTV as part of their overall strategy on an unprecedented scale. The judicial process is making more use than ever of the millions of CCTV cameras producing evidence. Public space systems make UK town and city centres some of the most electronically observed places in the world.
The guide is in two parts, plus appendices. Part one covers the requirements, procurement and running of CCTV, part two addresses technical issues.
There is much that has already been written on CCTV, and the working party agreed that it would be inappropriate to try and cover old ground. The aim of the SyI was to bring out the salient points and direct the reader towards deeper research if needed. In addition, we remind you of ongoing developments within the CCTV world, and readers need to remain current on legislation and good practice.
We hope that this guide contains some of that good practice and current legislation and we acknowledge the assistance and help from its contributors, who have in many cases been the protagonists of good practice.
Aims of the Guide:
- To produce a consolidated booklet of best practice CCTV advice for members
- To ensure that the advice given is of the highest quality
- The guide could be used by all levels of management
- The guidelines could be used as a means of introducing or improving CCTV
