The Security Institute is registered under the Companies Act 1985 as a private limited company which is limited by guarantee.
It has a Board of Directors made up of senior industry figures representing a wide range of interests. The Board provides Ethics and Appeals Committees who whose rulings in respect of all matters concerning membership is final. The Ethics Committee investigates issues raised under the Code of Ethics, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for action. It is customary that membership is suspended while this investigation is underway, until a recommendation for action is made. A member may appeal the Ethics Committee decision, which is heard by the Appeal Committee, whose decision is final.
